The "Nuts & Bolts" of Maine's Specific Learning Disability

During this workshop, participants will review Maine's SLD identification regulations and the accompanying eligibility form. The presenters will reference Maine DOE’s Special Education Required Forms Procedural Manual and other resources, such as Maine Association of School Psychologists (MASP’s) Clinical Guidance on Implementation for the Identification of Students Suspected of Having a Specific Learning Disability.
Guidance will be provided on the completion of Maine’s Specific Learning Disability eligibility form with detailed examples for each question, with a particular focus on section 4a-d and an overview of Response-to-Intervention and pattern of strengths and weaknesses. Presenters will also discuss pertinent information and provide guidance regarding SLD identification given instructional disruption as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
