Day 1 Expert Speaker: Patrick Mulick

"Inspired Leadership for Lasting Impact: Advancing Behavior Supports, LRE, & Student Independence"

An engaging, experienced speaker who understands special education.

Patrick will be the keynote for the 2025 Fall Conference to kick off MADSEC's 50th year and then join us at the Samoset for a full day with new content and resources, focusing on leadership in special education to create meaningful change.

Creating meaningful change in special education requires more than compliance—it calls for inspired leadership grounded in vision, strategy, and purpose. This dynamic session will explore how leaders can maximize their influence to reduce the use of restraint and seclusion, increase access to general education settings, and decrease the reliance on 1:1 paraeducator support by fostering greater student independence.

Through practical examples, user-friendly resources, and actionable strategies, participants will learn how to lead with intention, empower their teams, and cultivate environments where both students and staff can thrive. Attendees will leave re-energized and equipped with clear leadership moves that drive improved outcomes and sustain long-term, system-wide growth

*Patrick's presentation at Directors' Academy will be unlike others he has presented before. He may be a familiar face, but the presentation will be different with new content and resources. Patrick is the Director of Student Engagement in the Auburn School District in Washington state, an educational consultant, BCBA, and certified national speaker with years of experience and expertise to share with leaders of special education; not to mention he's an engaging, down-to-earth speaker providing real-life experiences and resources to elevate leadership skills in special education.
