Anna Feeney
President's Award Recipient 2007
Maine Administrators of Services for Children with Disabilities (MADSEC) honored Anna Feeney with the President's Award. Barbara Gunn, MADSEC President 2006-2007, and Director of the Old Town Regional Program, presented Anna with the award at the MADSEC Awards Dinner held at the Atlantic Oakes By-The-Sea in Bar Harbor on June 25th. MADSEC is the association for special education administrators in Maine's local public schools, private special education schools, and Child Development Services (preschool) sites.
Anna Feeney received her BS degree from the University of Maine, Farmington in Elementary and Special Education and her Masters in Special Education from the University of Maine, Orono. She was a special education teacher in SAD # 29, Houlton Maine for eighteen years with the majority of her time spent at the high school level. She served as an Aroostook County representative for the Maine Advisory Council for Special Education for seven years and also assisted the Parents Educating Parents state conferences through the role as group facilitator. In 1998, Anna was chosen as a Distinguished Educator for Program Review for the Maine Department of Education and also served as President for MADSEC. From 1999 to date she has been Acting Coordinator for Special Education Program Review for the Maine Department of Education.
Anna is married to Joe Feeney, Superintendent in SAD # 62 and has two children. Michael, a 4th grade teacher, and his wife, Beth, a high school special education teacher, live in Tampa and Benjamin, a chemical engineer sales representative, lives in Arlington Virginia. Last but not least, she is the proud "Mammie" of a three year old granddaughter, Kayla from Tampa, Florida.
